Being a church means we must be the hands and feet of Christ. Our current outreach ministries include:

-
Food Pantry - Our recently renovated food pantry (see video) includes a red window box facing Village Lane, where easy-to-open foods are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for those in need. Some are feeding just themselves and some are feeding families. While our recent renovations and food have been provided by a grant from the Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana, the previous 10 years it has been sustained by generous contributions from our church family.
-
Children’s Christmas Boxes - Just before Christmas, shoe boxes are filled and wrapped with toys and treats for any children in the two schools closest to our church to have something under their Christmas tree. We partner with the School Resource Officers to know which children have needs, then the church family gathers the gifts and snacks, filling and wrapping each box. What started as a project of 20 boxes for one school has grown to over 60 boxes for two schools!
-
Backpacks and School Supplies - In August, we purchase school supplies for children at neighborhood schools and fill back packs for each of the 6 grades. The backpacks are distributed to the schools for any children whose family cannot afford all the needed supplies.
-
Hope House Supplies - Hope House is a day shelter for those experiencing homelessness; it provides a place for individuals to take showers, use the phone, establish an address for mail or to wash clothes. There are always needs for toiletries, washing supplies, gently used clothing, coffee cups, sugar, and coffee. Our loving church family provides as many of these items as we can on a continual basis. All donations are welcome and can be placed in the Hope House basket in the church narthex.
-
Hope House Lunches - On the third Tuesday of each month St. George’s provides lunch to Hope House. Seasonal foods, such as warm chicken casserole in the winter or sandwiches and fixings in the summer, are provided. Not only do we provide food, but members often serve the lunch and make friends with the guests.
